To the sensible, a design must fulfill practical and functional requirements. Does this design work? Is it an efficient solution?
Within the realm of the sensible, is also the intellect. Do I like the way this design makes me think? Does it make me see something in a different way?
To the sense-able, a design must appeal to their bodily senses, seeking beauty in the way that they experience space and form with their bodies. Do I like what I see? What are the things that I physically touch in this design?
This double meaning of the word, “sense” is my filter for making design decisions – covering overall design concepts right through to the detail of the front door.
Does that make sense?
